Word of mouth is one of the most valuable sources of marketing, and camps have always relied on this type of communication. According to a Nielsen study, 92% of consumers believe suggestions from friends and family more than they do advertising. And now there is a better way for you to create that buzz! Authentic user-generated content is trend #3.
What is user-generated content? This is today’s new word of mouth. It is any type of content, such as images, videos, text, and audio, that has been posted by users on online platforms such as social media. Nowadays, people share more than ever and they look to their peers to see what they like and what’s cool. Camps can easily build this type of content, but you need to make sure it is real.
First, figure out your goals and which social networks will be most effective. Objectives like higher engagement or more visits to your website will dictate the type of content you are looking to create.
Then, tell your fans that you need their help. Otherwise how else will they know? Share exactly what you want them to do and how they should do it. For instance, ask them to post specific types of photos using a particular hashtag, or invite them to participate in a contest.
Once your “ambassadors” start sharing content, you can repost it. However, you should ALWAYS ask for permission and give credit where credit is due.
One last thing you must keep in mind is that people won’t just follow you because you post everyday. You need to follow more users, comment on their posts and create conversations. In return, you will get attention and boost your following.
