2021 Camp Marketing Trend #5
Last but not least, my favorite trend for 2021 is video storytelling. I may be a bit biased since I was a former television producer. However, with more and more virtual events and social media engagement, video is making a comeback.
It is important for you to understand the power of video. This medium allows you to connect with your audience on an emotional level unlike any other medium. However, you shouldn't just string footage together to music. You need to actually tell a story, and camps have a lot of stories! Be creative. Whether you use nostalgia or humor, animation, or a documentary style video you can break through the clutter, grab people’s attention, and keep them entertained.
A long format video can be used as a recruitment tool, yet the trend these days is to keep it short and sweet! Think Youtube or TikTok. These videos are quick, to the point, sometimes informative and very addicting. Almost 5 billion videos are watched on Youtube each day. Videos also tend to get more engagement on social media than just a photo or text. Keep in mind, most viewers only watch snippets of the video and your goal is to get them to watch the entire thing. These posts should be 20 seconds or less to be effective.
This week I shared my predictions for marketing trends for 2021. There are countless strategies, but what works for one camp may not work for another. Everyone’s goals are different and your audiences vary. Marketing is a constant ebb and flow. You must rely on research and planning to gain growth.
