Congratulations! You made it through another successful summer season! Although it may all seem like a blur, in the next few weeks you’ll have time to reflect and consider what’s next… but don’t wait too long! While memories are fresh and parents are happy, now is the perfect time to keep your camp spirit alive with marketing.
WE KNOW YOU’RE TIRED AND DON’T FEEL LIKE IT!
But there are a few simple things you can do that won’t take a ton of time. Start with sending a survey to parents. Create a Google form or use a platform like Survey Monkey. Ask questions that will provide valuable feedback about your programming, facilities, staff, and food. Send an email to encourage parents to take a five-minute survey with a link, and don’t get frustrated when your parents don’t respond. You’ll need to send more than one email to increase participation. Whether you get 20 results or 100, the insight you gain will help you make informed decisions for next year.
The next thing you should do is express your gratitude to everyone who contributed this summer. A quick note or postcard to parents, staff, campers, and volunteers can go a long way in building relationships.
TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR CALENDAR.
Now is the time to plan dates for reunion events, open houses, and alumni socials. Send out save the dates and post the dates on your website. This type of active engagement between seasons helps sustain enthusiasm and anticipation for the upcoming summer. It also gives you the chance to register campers early.
Speaking of early registration, you should have already rolled out your campaign. If you haven’t, create a promotion to sign up campers for Summer ’24 starting in October. Whether you’re a day camp or an overnight camp, capturing families as they leave camp is the best way to increase re-enrollment.
AS SUMMER FADES, PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE.
Find creative strategies to connect with campers and new families, and stay in touch with staff and alumni. Having a year-round marketing plan in place will ensure a smoother transition into the off-season.
